Kiwanis Club Scholarship Criteria, Process, and Protocol
Kiwanis Club of Manhasset and Port Washington

Criteria:

Candidates for the Kiwanis Scholarship for High School Seniors must meet the following:


 Demonstrated need.
 Currently enrolled in a State recognized secondary school.
 Accepted and committed to a school of higher learning or trade school for next year.
 Demonstrated a commitment to community service through Key Club and others.
 Maintained an academic record such that success in a school of higher learning or
trade school is expected.
 Demonstrated the qualities of leadership and citizenship consistent with the Kiwanis
Club beliefs.
 Supported by a letter of reference from faculty member at current school.
 Completed essay in application for the scholarship.

Process:

 A review of applications will take place within the Kiwanis Board.
 Decisions will be made and announced prior to June of the student’s senior year.
 Scholarships will be awarded in late June, or July, at a Kiwanis luncheon meeting. - Schloarships not accepted by September 1st of the students graduation of High School, will be forfeited. 
 Scholarship winners may invite one reference provided to join the Kiwanis meeting
and to introduce the student.
 Scholarship winners may also invite their parent(s) or guardian(s) to the luncheon.
 All information to be presented and names of attendees must be sent to the Kiwanis
President a week ahead of time.
 All deadlines must be met. All parts of the process must take place.

Failure to comply with the procedures will invalidate the application.
